The Aero Club Malta was set up by Maltese aviators with the primary aim to further local sport aviation, keep flying costs down to an affordable minimum and to represent its members in national and international matters relating to our sport from flying aircraft not exceeding 450kg take-off weight up to 2500kg touring aircraft. By bringing together all levels of local pilots to share their experience, expertise and joy of flying we will elevate the excellent level of local flying competence to new heights. At the same time it will also serve to slowly but surely do away with the self imposed and counterproductive segregation between local aviators.
Apart from the above mentioned, the club also offers its assistance to club members with regards to logistical and technical support in relation to home build aircraft assembly, aircraft ownership and upkeep.
The club is not exclusive to pilot licence holders and aircraft owners only but also welcomes those who have aviation at heart in all of its aspects from photography to model and simulation flying. The club is also in a position to assist its non flying members who aspire to undertake a pilot’s licence in achieving such a goal from NPPL (UK) to JAA in predetermined fixed time parameters and contained cost.
As our sport is of a dynamic nature, the club is constantly monitoring the developments vis-à-vis European aviation legislation and its effect and challenges that the proposed forthcoming changes will inevitably bring to our sport. To do so the club is affiliated with various local and international aviation organizations and associations.
Aero Club Malta is of a non-profit nature and its members are free to contribute to its activities and promotes individual creativity. Its activities and function are steered by a voluntary Committee, members of which are elected according to the club’s approved statute.
Aero Club Malta is registered with the Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport - http://www.sportmalta.org.mt
